Ignite Intellectual Passion: Head of Classics at a Leading Grammar School.
This is a great opportunity to become part of a welcoming and vibrant school where everyone can flourish, and staff are highly valued.
Are you a passionate and experienced classicist eager to lead a thriving department where intellectual curiosity flourishes? If so, this is your opportunity to shape the future of budding scholars in a vibrant and highly academic environment.
We are seeking a dynamic Head of Classics to inspire and challenge students in a department renowned for its rigour, energy, and love of the ancient world. From Year 9 onwards, students engage deeply with Latin and Greek, embracing the academic challenge and intellectual joy that Classics offers. The buzz of curiosity in our classrooms is palpable, a testament to the Department's dedication and the students' voracious thirst for knowledge.
This role offers far more than just teaching. You will have the opportunity to:
- inspire and nurture intellectually curious students with a deep enthusiasm for the ancient world;
- lead a talented and collaborative team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation;
- enhance and build upon our department’s outstanding academic reputation;
- guide students to success at A-level, ideally teaching both Latin and Greek.
- enrich learning beyond the classroom, with opportunities for dramatic performances, trips to Pompeii, Hadrian’s Wall, and more.
This is a school where staff are truly valued, supported, and encouraged to progress. The previous Head of Classics’ promotion to Deputy Headteacher speaks to the career development opportunities available here.
While this is a full-time position, we welcome part-time applications - please state your preference clearly in your application.
If you’re ready to lead, inspire, and make a lasting impact, we’d love to hear from you. Join us and become part of an extraordinary classical journey.
