About The Team/Department You Will Be Joining
You will be joining our busy Communications & Media Team, based at our HQ in Bridgend which is responsible for all internal and external communications.
Depending on your skills, you could play a part in helping us engage and communicate with over 6,000 police officers, police staff and volunteers or create engaging digital content for our 1 million+ social media followers.
We also want someone to support our 24/7 media-handling work, assist investigations with timely appeals and updates, and tell the story of South Wales Police through use of social and traditional media, and help our campaigns team to reassure and keep the communities of South Wales safe.
About The Role And Your Key Responsibilities
Your main responsibility will be to support our Communications & Media Team in delivering a first-class communications service to the communities of South Wales as well as our own internal audience made up of officers, police staff and volunteers.
One of the apprenticeship roles will be based within our Digital & Content Team which creates content for our range of social media channels including the South Wales Police website, Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, and YouTube, as well as our internal audience.
The second role will be to support our Internal Communications Team in reaching and engaging our 6,000+ police officers, staff, and volunteers based across the force area through the use of new and established communications channels.
The third opportunity is to work across our Communications & Media Team, enabling the successful candidate to develop their skills and knowledge of a range of communications disciplines, including news, campaigns, digital and content, internal communications, and our heritage centre.
What Skills and Experience Do We Need You to Bring to the Role:
You’ll need to be well-organised and creative with some existing knowledge and an interest in developing existing skills in areas such as social media, content creation, design, digital media, video editing, copywriting, website publishing, online and print media.
Qualification Criteria
You must have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C Level, including Maths and English, or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
You must be eligible to register for a Level 3 or above apprenticeship in a relevant subject. (Subject list can be found under ‘Qualifications’ on the relevant role profile.)
Please note to be eligible for the SWP Apprenticeship Programme you must:
1. Have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C grade, including Maths and English, or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
2. Be a British Citizen, citizen from the European Economic Area (EEA), Commonwealth citizen or foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom.
3. Not have previously completed an apprenticeship, internship, or graduate programme with South Wales Police.
4. If you are applying for a South Wales Police Staff Apprenticeship as a career change opportunity, then the role you apply for must be of a different discipline than any previous qualifications you hold.
