Sunderland City Council has a strong commitment to apprentices and training and as a successful Insurance and Claims Apprentice, you will be provided with unparalleled support throughout the duration of your programme.
You will develop the skills you need for the job by working alongside your Insurance and Claims Handling colleagues and getting hands-on experience.
As our Insurance and Claims Apprentice you will assist your colleagues with public liability and motor claims. You will also assist with arranging appropriate insurance for the Council.
You will assist with the handling, investigation and settlement of claims, by collating information, handling day-to-day insurance queries and assisting in the management, maintenance, and provision of accurate up-to-date high-quality claims and insurance information on behalf of the Council.
You will undertake the Apprenticeship Training Course ‘Insurance Professional Level 4'.
You will be supported through the apprenticeship by a college assessor, and you will also receive regular mentoring in the workplace from your supervisor and team. You will also have access to numerous development opportunities and enjoy the support and encouragement of a knowledgeable and friendly team.
About you
To apply for this position candidates should have 5 GCSEs at Grades 9 – 4 / A – C including Maths, English and ICT and also 2 A’ Level passes.
Candidates who hold an equivalent and relevant qualification are also invited to apply.
No previous experience is required as full training will be provided.
To be successful in this role you will need to be organised, able to plan and prioritise and be a real problem solver. So, as well as excellent IT skills you will be someone who is thorough and organised in your working approach and comfortable in dealing with multiple tasks and projects at once.
You will be dealing with customers, both internal and external - so your ability to communicate effectively is vital in keeping customers happy. You will be required to build strong relationships with a variety of customers, so an ability to build rapport is important.
It is essential that you are able to travel to City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland and arrive on time for work.
The Insurance and Claims Handling Team are currently agile working; however, full-time employees are required to attend their place of work at least 2 days per week, so an element of your work may be undertaken from home.
