About the role
You will be joining a passionate department that aims to provide an inclusive and engaging curriculum that encourages students to be confident communicators, creative problem solvers and critical thinkers. Our aim is not only to help students achieve great outcomes but to spark their interest and engagement so that they have the qualifications and desire to pursue further study in drama, both on and off-stage, as actors, designers or technicians at A Level and degree level. For those students who pursue other passions in life we aim to equip them with transferable skills that will not only help them make sense of the world around them but will also be beneficial in almost any future career.
The Drama department is currently composed of an experienced team of two teachers, who work collaboratively to ensure high standards of teaching and learning, subject knowledge and curriculum design. Outcomes in drama at KS4 are strong across all ability ranges with around 40 students taking drama in Years 10 and 11. At KS5, student numbers are consistent with 8 students in Year 12/13 this year. We offer Drama & Theatre A Level in our Sixth Form.
About you
You will be an excellent teacher, commensurate with your experience, with high expectations of all students, including a commitment to the most vulnerable. You will have the subject knowledge, expertise and passion to teach Drama to at least KS4, preferably KS5 level.
You will be a team player, understanding that a common approach to certain aspects of school improvement are vital in driving up standards. You will be committed to your own and the school’s drive for continuous improvement, whilst also understanding the school’s friendly and inclusive ethos. You will therefore be personable and approachable and be able to quickly build effective relationships with students and colleagues in the School and across the Trust.
