We are seeking to recruit a passionate and visionary individual to build on the achievements of our retiring CEO and steer the organisation into the next stages of our development. As CEO, you will lead our staff team and work with the Board of Trustees to further our mission and provide quality services that enable women and others in the community to lead fulfilled and empowered lives.
Key responsibilities:
* To provide strategic leadership and have overall responsibility for the management and coordination of all aspects of work related to WWA.
* To work with the Board of Trustees to develop and implement a business plan for the successful growth of the service.
* To provide strategic leadership for policy and lobbying, partnership building and networking with statutory and voluntary agencies, as well maintaining existing working relationships.
* To ensure that all WWA’s work is operated to a high standard of integrity and accountability and maintain good governance practice with regular reports to the WWA Board of Trustees.
* The role requires organisational and financial management and an ability to build and sustain the financial structure of the organisation.
* To have an understanding of funding streams including grants and commissioning.
Essential tasks within these key areas include:
Financial Management:
* Work with Treasurer to set annual budget and review quarterly for the Trustee Board.
* Actively seek funding and write funding applications, including reporting and providing information to existing funders.
* Ensure the financial viability of the Refuge by being responsible for overall budgeting and expenditure of the refuge, including the payment of monthly salaries, all invoices, monthly reconciliation of accounts, preparing accounts for audit, and ensuring all financial banking procedures are strictly observed.
* Monitor all income into WWA including rents, service charge, housing benefit and Warrington Borough Council contact payments, grant income and donations.
* Oversee budgets expenditure and management accounts ensuring that income and expenditure stay within the budget using Sage.
* Identify and implement an effective risk management strategy and framework to support the business plan objectives and robust financial and strategic management.
* Liaise and provide relevant information to Accountant regarding annual accounts, monthly payroll.
* Tender for contracts and suppliers to ensure WWA receives favourable costings.
* Ensure that WBC complies with building standards and ensuring the lease reflects this.
Governance:
* Service the Board of Trustees by arranging regular management meetings, including setting the agenda, and providing all relevant information and reports concerning the operational and strategic management of the refuge.
* Lead and manage the charity in accordance with the Articles of Association and in line with the obligations of the Charity Commission.
* Foster good working relationships and ensure systems and structures are in place for the Trustee Board to fulfil its statutory responsibilities and exercise effective control of WWA Ltd.
* Advise the Trustee Board in all aspects of WWA Ltd, including short term and long-term strategic planning for the financial, fundraising, HR management and public relations/communications.
* Support the Chair to ensure the continued engagement/involvement of all the board members.
* Ensure at all times that the Trustee Board operates within statutory approved frameworks, requirements and guidelines.
* Work with the Trustee Board to maintain WWA Assets.
Leadership:
* Be an inspirational leader for WWA so that it consistently achieves excellence and invites innovation and change.
* Manage the overarching Human Resource Management including recruitment and retention of staff in line with WWA Policies and Procedures.
* Maintain a culture which motivates all staff to enable them to provide a high-quality standard of service to all service users, including supervisions, annual appraisals, and encouraging personal and professional development through training opportunities.
* Maintain the quality of service delivery by obtaining feedback from service users and key stakeholders, including reference to local policies and procedures.
* Use stakeholder/service user feedback to continually develop and enhance the WWA service offer.
* Ensure all WWA policies are regularly reviewed and agreed by the Trustee Board in line with procedure.
* Work closely with the Refuge Manager to ensure a smooth running of the service across both sites of WWA.
* Participate in the operational running of the Refuge, with the flexibility to work evenings and weekends if required.
* Manage all communications and correspondence of the Refuge.
* Ensure all policies and procedures, including health and safety compliance and risk assessment documents are updated annually.
* Continuously review services and respond to emerging needs, e.g. development of drop-in services, counselling services, DA Floating Support Worker, Business Support.
Marketing and Communication:
* Attend relevant meetings as a representative of WWA to promote the work and philosophy of the charity, including being a WWA representative at all WBC partnership meetings.
* Develop and maintain the charity website.
* Develop and implement strategies to raise WWA’s presence and profile.
* Identify opportunities for partnership working that would advance the cause of the Refuge.
* Ensure WWA’s marketing merchandise is current and engaging.
* Attend information and networking events to promote WWA and raise awareness of Domestic Abuse.
Training:
* Design and deliver the Responding to Domestic Abuse Training for Warrington Borough Council as per the contract.
* Ensure all staff are current with DA legislation and practice.
* Deliver bespoke DA training to the wider community including Cheshire Police.
