Job summary An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen for a registered health professional to apply for the role of Service Manager for the Birmingham Recovery Team based at HMP Birmingham within our Offender Health Service which forms part of Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust. This role also works in partnership with other organisations. You will be a dynamic, motivated and creative clinician who will lead on driving the team forward and will be expected to offer overall professional leadership and management to the BRT service. This includes management and coordination staff and clinical activity and have overall responsibility for the professional development. To provide specialist practical advice on the care and clinical management of users of the services and to support staff, other agencies and other statutory services to provide integrated services to enable improved health and well-being outcomes for service users. The post holder will work in partnership with the Head of Offender Health and other senior colleagues to monitor, challenge and improve the quality of patient care within the services. The post holder will embrace multi-disciplinary working and work as a key member of the MDT, you will also be required to represent the service at key forums and meetings. Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills will be required for this post and you will need to be able to work effectively both on your own initiative and as part of the team Main duties of the job The post holder will provide effective and efficient management of delegated resources within a defined clinical area while ensuring care delivery meets and addresses the issues of spirituality, equality diversity and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation. Work in partnership with HMP, and other key healthcare stakeholders to oversee a substance misuse service within HMP. Ensuring contractual compliance with commissioned model of care Operational management and leadership of a team leader, and non medical prescribers. To lead in the management of all clinical risks in their designated area (HMP SMS), including serious and critical incident management, periodic review and analysis of service development, service performance and service needs/overview. To conduct and oversee audit of core activity and relevant aspects of services provided. To lead in the assessment planning implementation and evaluation of nursing care for a defined clinical area, and ensure that staff have a working knowledge of local, national policies and legislation which govern current service provision Provide advanced clinical skills across the SMS service, leading practice issues and provide leadership and management. In case of untoward incidences, co-ordinate reporting including contact and liaise with appropriate agencies and personnel.
