Do you want to say you helped put the next generation UK fighter jet into service? We’re looking for a Production Planner to join our newly created team at Boscombe Down to deliver an exciting engineering programme that will see our Flight Test Aircraft contribute to the development of the UK’s Future Combat Air System (FCAS).
About us:
2Excel is a high-performance aviation services business that specializes in doing difficult things well. We have experienced significant growth since inception and that vector shows no sign of slowing down. Spread over multiple sites, engaging in a wide variety of activities including search and rescue, charter, capability development, and aircraft maintenance, our people are at the heart of our business and, therefore, our priority.
Since 2019 we have been working on our Excalibur project; a flight test aircraft created as a flying laboratory for combat air technology. It is part of the UK’s Future Combat Air System (FCAS), which will include the core fighter being developed under the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), as well as a broader range of capabilities such as uncrewed aircraft, information systems, and weapon systems.
As we enter the next phase of this project, we are seeking exceptional people to join our team to support the engineering programme at Boscombe Down in Wiltshire.
About the role:
The Production Planner is responsible for creating and managing detailed schedules for future maintenance inputs, ensuring optimal resource allocation, and proactively identifying potential issues to maintain operational efficiency.
This role involves forecasting, planning, and ensuring that resources, equipment, and personnel are available to meet project and operational requirements. This role will generally work Monday to Friday with flexibility to accommodate emergency situations, unscheduled maintenance, or project deadlines.
Key duties will include:
1. Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, and milestones, defining project goals and objectives and updating plans regularly to reflect any changes and ensuring these are communicated accordingly.
2. Prepare risk management plans to identify potential challenges and mitigate risks proactively, monitoring and resolving scheduling conflicts.
3. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to align plans with operational needs.
4. Identify all required resources (personnel, equipment, materials).
5. Prepare performance and operational reports as required.
About you:
Ideally you’ll be an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Planner or you may have experience of a different role within a Part 145 Aircraft Maintenance environment and be able to transfer your skills into a Production Planner role. Your knowledge of the aviation industry, including regulations, will be strong and you may even have relevant qualifications.
You’ll have excellent organisational skills and be proficient with IT systems that support planning, scheduling, and/or project management. You’ll have a problem-solving mentality with the ability to think outside the box whilst maintaining adherence to regulatory procedures. You’ll be a strong communicator, with the ability to build rapport at all levels of the organisation and with external customers and stakeholders.
You will also need to be eligible to hold a UK Security Clearance which is a requirement of this role.
What we offer:
In return we can offer a generous salary, 25 days holiday per year from day one plus bank holidays, 5% matched Pension scheme, Group Life Insurance, Health and Wellbeing benefits including Health Care Cash Plan and an EAP, and much more.
Apply using our application form and upload your CV. You are encouraged to use the Covering Letter function to demonstrate how you meet the requirements of the role.
