Trauma and Orthopaedic Advanced Clinical Practitioner
Job summary
Full time 37.5 hours per week. Permanent post.
We are looking for a motivated health care professional to join as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in the trauma and orthopaedic department at the Royal Bolton Hospital. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work alongside a well-established and highly skilled Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Orthogeriatric team who excel in delivering high quality patient-centred care.
This is a full time post (37.5hrs/week) with a salary at Band 8a. Please note that non-medical prescribing is a requirement for this post.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will ideally have experience of working within an acute and/or surgical setting. Ideally candidates would have some Orthopaedic and frailty knowledge/experience. They will need to show a willingness and aptitude to learn and develop. They will need to be self-motivated with a desire to improve patient care through application of advanced clinical skills and knowledge, as well as leadership, education and research skills.
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will be supported with clinical supervision from an allocated Orthogeriatrician and ACP, and have access to continuing professional development that reflects all four domains of advanced practice.

Job responsibilities
* To work with the ACP postholder/s and wider Trauma and Orthopaedics department in providing high quality holistic care for patients to assess, diagnose, and treat T+O patients with particular focus on comprehensive geriatric assessment to support the care of older frailer patients with orthopaedic complaints under the supervision of the Consultant-led orthopaedics and orthogeriatrics teams.
* Have a key role within the multidisciplinary team acting as a liaison between all members to allow for seamless and efficient care from admission to discharge.
* Be able to manage their own caseload in response to unpredictable patterns of work.
* Act as a clinical expert in patient care, able to make high level clinical decisions, informed by advanced diagnostic, assessment and treatment skills.
* Facilitates expert inter-professional care for the ill patient and their dependants by direction, supervision and example; and maintenance of all records.
* Initiates, undertakes and evaluates research and audit.
* Develops and delivers educational programmes for staff locally and will work with Advanced Clinical Practitioners locally/nationally to develop advanced nursing practice.
* Ordering and interpreting radiological imaging is an integral part of the role.
* This is a designated non-medical prescribing position.
* It is anticipated that 80% of the time will be spent in the clinical area.
Person Specification
Attainments/Registration
Essential
* Relevant Masters degree in Advanced Practice or recognised qualification by the supported portfolio route from HEE centre for Advancing Practice.
* V300 Non-medical prescribing.
* Registered nurse with valid NMC registration or Health Care Professional and registered with HCPC.
* Knowledge of Orthopaedics and/or acute setting.

* Management & leadership experience.
* Experience of T&O and frailty.

* Experience as a qualified ACP in an acute setting.
* Evidence of clinical/ managerial leadership experience.
* Experience of change management or service improvement activity.
