An exciting opportunity for a registered nurse to gain Endoscopy experience whilst covering a secondment for 11 months has arisen within our team.
The Endoscopy Unit at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital is looking to recruit a Band 5 Staff Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner to join their team working 27 hours per week.
Candidates should have a professional nursing/ODP qualification, drive and enthusiasm, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and in return, we will be able to offer you support towards your professional development.
Main duties of the job
The pre-assessment of patients from the clinic that require an endoscopic procedure, providing skilled and considerate care during the patients' admission; taking into account the patient's specific needs during the procedure; recovery and discharge; preparing the equipment and the environment to enable the procedures to be carried out to a high standard safely.
About us
The unit currently provides a service for both outpatients and inpatients including the following procedures: Endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, EMR/ESD, PEG insertions, ERCP, and EUS.
Patient care, experience, and staff well-being are at the forefront of our philosophy. This has been recently demonstrated with us gaining our JAG accreditation and a values in practice award for safety.
The Endoscopy unit is currently open 08:00 - 18:00, 7 days a week, including bank holidays. We provide a comprehensive on-call service for the out-of-hours work, and the successful applicant will be required to participate in this once fully trained.
Cross-site working will be required; the ability to drive or travel to The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford is essential.

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 a year per annum/pro rata
