Overview:
Green & Tonic, a thriving and fast-growing company located in Fairfield and Westchester County, is seeking a controller with a food & beverage focus. Reporting to the President of Green & Tonic, the Controller will be responsible for oversight of all accounting and reporting for its multiple locations and consolidation. This is a hands-on role with the Controller leading as well as performing day-to-day accounting responsibilities. The Controller will ensure that Green & Tonic has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and timely financial reports.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all accounting activities ensuring compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures.
2. Manage working capital by driving improvements in the areas of cash, food purchasing, A/R collections, and A/P processing.
3. Manage accounting operations, tax, and financial reporting.
4. Direct the daily activities for GL, AP, AR, revenue, and payroll.
5. Manage the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, inter-company, cost allocations, and other balance sheets and P&L accounts.
6. Prepare, review and issue monthly financial statements.
7. Implement and maintain effective internal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, the integrity of corporate data, and safeguarding of assets.
8. Manage accounting policies and procedures and lead process improvement initiatives.
9. Manage and assist external accounting firm with local, state, and federal tax filings.
10. Create and present monthly financial reporting package for management and owners.
11. Manage banking, tax stakeholders, and insurance relationships along with the corresponding compliance and reporting process for each.
12. Create and maintain budgeting and forecasting processes.
13. Work alongside other departments on various projects.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Minimum 6 years of experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or Staff/Senior Accountant in a full-service or multi-unit restaurant, hotel, or other food and beverage or hospitality business.
2. Restaurant specific experience should include theoretical food costing, scheduling, processing accurate inventory (including enforcement of inventory procedures).
3. Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting.
4. Restaurant365 General Ledger software experience highly desired.

1. Strong understanding of GAAP and technical accounting.
2. Ability to work independently without considerable oversight, and to act decisively.
3. Experience in designing and implementing accounting processes and controls.
4. Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills.
5. Analytical, high attention to detail, organized with exceptional time-management skills.
6. Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in the organization.
