We are now looking for a Custodian to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis, working 36.5 hours per week. This position is one of two full-time Custodian posts in the faculty and is part of a team who share a weekly rota to cover the building's opening hours, which are currently 6:30am - 8:00pm during the week (6.00pm on Fridays). You will be required to alternate between morning shifts one week, to evening shifts the following week. Providing a safe and welcoming environment for staff, students, and visitors, you will carry out essential custodial duties, including cleaning, maintenance, and security. You will conduct daily checks to ensure building systems are functioning correctly, perform minor maintenance, and liaise with the Estates Division for repairs. Additionally, you will: Manage portering tasks Conduct security duties Ensure teaching and meeting rooms are prepared Carry out routine cleaning tasks Supervise and liaise with cleaning staff, ensuring high standards are maintained Assist with fire safety tests Replenish and maintain stock of consumables About You To be considered as a Custodian, you will need: Practical experience of cleaning or custodial duties Basic factual knowledge of custodial work, including DIY and general maintenance An awareness of health and safety and fire issues GCSEs, an NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualifications or an equivalent level of practical experience Other organisations may call this role Caretaker, Property Maintenance Operative, Cleaner, Grounds Maintenance Operative, Grounds Technician, Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician, Facilities Technician, or Building & Grounds Operative.
