Job summary The post holder will work in partnership with the Cath Lab Manager/ Senior Staff Nurse in the smooth and efficient running of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, providing high quality skilled nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac procedures. The post holder will perform scrub, circulatory and recovery nurse duties pertaining to diagnostic, interventional and pacing procedures in the cardiac cath lab. The post holder will work with team members in the deliverance of high quality evidenced based patient care in a busy and diverse clinical area. The post holder will provide support and mentorship for students and junior nurses. The post holder should be able to work shift patterns to meet the demands of the cath lab service. Main duties of the job We are looking for a dynamic, innovative Registered Nurse with experience in nursing cardiac patients within in the acute ward setting and cardiac catheter lab. The post holder will be supported in practice day to day be the Band 6 and 7 charge nurses and will have regular learning opportunities. The staff nurse will learn how to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care within the recovery and Catheter lab. After an agreed period of induction and training with competencies they will coordinate the day to day management of patients for pre assessments and post procedure within the running of the Cardiac catheter Lab and pre assessment setting, where effective clinical care is delivered to patients. The post holder will involve working and establishing clear lines of communication within this specialist team to ensure cohesive multidisciplinary management with key stakeholders.
