Job Overview
Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP (IPS) invites applications from experienced Biomedical Scientists with significant technical and managerial experience for the position of Cross-Site Blood Transfusion Service Lead within the organisation.
This role is the cross-site service lead and subject matter expert for the Blood Transfusion service. Candidates will have significant experience of working at a senior position within a Blood Transfusion laboratory. The candidate should be an enthusiastic HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist with substantial managerial experience and FIBMS (or equivalent, e.g., MSc).
In-person visibility is a key aspect of this role, and regular travel between the three laboratory sites is required to ensure this.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will manage and work closely with the Cross Site Service Lead for Haematology, Section Managers, and Advanced Biomedical Scientists to ensure delivery of a comprehensive, quality, and safe multi-site laboratory service. The role will form a triumvirate with the General Manager and Clinical Director for Blood Science in delivering the service and providing assurance to the Managing Director and Medical Director.
Demonstrable experience of managing staff and pathology services is essential. Candidates will need to have a 'can-do' attitude, be enthusiastic, well-motivated, and innovative, with good organisational and practical abilities. This should be supported by well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to support individual and team working.

IPS is a joint venture owned by and providing a high-quality pathology service to Airedale NHS Foundation Trust (ANHST), Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT), and Harrogate and District Foundation Trust (HDFT). All staff working for IPS are NHS employees with standard NHS T&Cs.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* HCPC registration as Biomedical Scientist
* Holds a relevant postgraduate qualification (MSc), conducive with Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science status
* Holds a suitable management qualification or significant experience in a managerial position
* IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Transfusion or equivalent qualification or experience that evidences work at equivalent level
* Membership of a professional body such as IBMS
Experience
* Knowledge and experience of regulatory and accreditation requirements relevant to Blood Transfusion with demonstrable evidence of involvement in managing Quality Management Systems
* Substantial technical knowledge and experience in Blood Transfusion demonstrating an ability to manage a Blood Transfusion laboratory.
* Experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring policies, procedures, and standards, in line with local or national guidelines
* Demonstrable evidence of Human Resource management experience and proven leadership skills
* Evidence of proven people skills particularly in dealing with individuals of different grades
* Experience in training staff of different grades
* Experience of procurement and implementation of equipment, including change control and test validation and verification
* Demonstrable experience and skill in the initiation and implementation of organisational change
