Required from September 2025 - ECTs welcome to apply Phoenix is a multi-cultural 11-19 secondary school, serving 1,965 students in the north of West Bromwich close to the border with Walsall in the West Midlands. Opened in September 2010, as a result of the merger of two local schools, Phoenix has established itself as one of the highest performing schools in the area, an accolade achieved through commitment to continually improving the quality of teaching and learning and the provision of an exciting and dynamic learning experience for students. Over recent years examination results have continued to improve which is reflected in our 2024 value added figure of 0.17 published by the DFE. This is expected to be further enhanced in 2025 with an EBacc cohort now approaching 40%. Phoenix is a school that aspires to turn every child’s dream into reality; believes that there is no limit to what can be achieved and succeeds through passion, commitment and determination. We are seeking to appoint a highly talented and innovative, qualified teacher of Maths to join our friendly and supportive team. You will have a confident understanding of the curriculum and the ability to inspire excellent learning. The Maths team currently comprises 21 specialist teachers. The department has leads for each of the key stages alongside two colleagues who help to lead on whole school teaching and learning strategies. Maths results are on the up year on year and one of the reasons for this is the teamwork and comradery within the department. The number of students staying on to study Maths post 16 at both A level (Maths and Further Maths) and Core Maths has increased to where Maths is now amongst the most popular subjects in the Sixth Form. There is the possibility of post 16 teaching for a suitable candidate. This is a rare opportunity to join a thriving team. As a school we have a fabulous CPD offer to support colleagues at whatever point in their career they are, from our ITT to our senior leaders. We also offer our staff a supportive welfare package including, but not limited to, access to physiotherapy, nurse & doctor appointments and counselling. Phoenix is one of only a few schools nationally to benefit from the government’s priority schools building programme and our state-of-the-art facilities are second to none. The students and staff at Phoenix face an exciting future. If you would like to be part of a school that is committed to becoming the very best, and if you can inspire and motivate our students, you could be the person for this role.
