The Infrastructure Development and Delivery Team within National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) are developing vital infrastructure to reach Net Zero.
As an Engineer and accomplished Project Manager, you’ll lead a team in the project setup, pre-construction phase of our construction projects with a focus on our existing overhead line assets. You’ll be involved at all stages, including option selection, development, sanction, tender and contract award.
With consideration of the project drivers, you’ll undertake feasibility, optioneering and engineering works to determine, develop and evaluate how the project can be taken forward to production, championing the optimal solution that will deliver the best long-term value to the Consumer. Following on, you’ll work closely with the delivery teams in the early stages of the project.
You will also lead and support the development of regulatory submissions to our regulator, to secure regulatory capital funding, providing an engineering justification paper for regulatory scrutiny and cost benefit analysis.
We currently have 3 levels of Project Development Engineer vacancies, one being a Lead role, which will include mentoring other engineers and providing training across the team to increase technical, financial, programme and safety knowledge understanding.
We’re flexible on where you’re based and support hybrid working however there will be a requirement for you to travel to our offices in Warwick 1-2 days per week, as well as travel to sites throughout England and Wales.
What you'll need
* Proficient technical knowledge of the Electricity Transmission System and the transmission assets – Overhead Line experience is preferable.
* An understanding of the way that National Grid delivers revenue under current and future regulatory frameworks.
* Proficient knowledge of the application of CDM, Safety and Environmental Regulations.
* Proficient project management skills including management of time, cost, safety and risk as well as Contract Management.
* Stakeholder management and engagement skills and approach to delivering a high-quality output.
* Proficient understanding and demonstrable working knowledge of business processes and governance.
* Demonstrable experience of leading cross functional teams.
* Proficient business writing and communication skills.
