Description
SAVA is seeking an outgoing and detail-oriented technician to join our mechanical engineering team and aid in testing our biosensors on people. This role involves direct interaction with trial participants, conducting test procedures using custom equipment, and ensuring a seamless and professional experience for our volunteers. The ideal candidate is comfortable engaging with a broad demographic of individuals, explaining testing protocols, and gathering accurate data. Hands-on assembly skills and practical problem-solving abilities are preferred.
Responsibilities
The primary duties of this role are as follows:
* Perform thorough testing using custom testing equipment, including set up, operation and maintenance of the equipment
* Communicate clearly and confidently with participants, explaining procedures, answering questions and ensuring participants are comfortable and informed throughout the process
* Collect, document, and analyse test results with oversight from engineers
* Collaborate with the Engineering team to refine our processes and troubleshoot equipment issues
* Developing documentation to support the engineering process (e.g. SOPs, results databases, test reports, etc.)
Past Experience
* Front facing role and/or role engaging with a diverse range of individuals
Requirements
* A minimum of 1yr experience working in a front facing role and/or proven experience engaging with a diverse range of individuals
* Keen attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining high quality standards
* High level of initiative – spotting and raising issues, proactively improving processes and actively communicating ideas
* Strong motivation and accountability, particularly in supporting developmental tasks
* Strong time management skills
* Proficiency in daily computer tasks, including use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and in the form of written technical updates
* Excellent organizational abilities
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating patience and collaboration
Preferred
* Experience working in engineering workshops and/or scientific laboratories
* Experience following detailed work instructions, protocols, and industry standards
* Experience with hands-on assembly work, particularly with small, detailed components
* Familiarity with inspection tools (e.g. callipers, micrometres, microscopes) to inspect parts for quality and accuracy
* Basic understanding of experimental methods and data analysis
* A university education is preferred but not a strict requirement for this role
