As part of this exciting initiative, we are looking for a talented Senior Character Artist to join our team and help build innovative, expressive avatars for our client. About the Role: As a Senior Character Artist, you will work alongside a team of industry professionals to create visually appealing avatars, clothing, and other characters that resonate with our diverse audience. You will contribute to the creative development of the play and essential role in shaping how users express themselves through avatars. Your ability to bring characters to life and deliver high-quality, production-ready assets will be key to your success in this role. Responsibilities: Avatar & Character Creation : Design and create high-quality, visually appealing clothing and costumes for avatars, along with other characters and creatures that will engage and delight our users Collaboration : Work closely with art, animation, and technical art teams to ensure high standards and alignment across all aspects of the creative process Production Delivery : Ensure the timely delivery of production-ready character assets, including clothing and character variants, that meet project specifications Vendor Coordination : Collaborate with external vendors, providing feedback on both technical and artistic aspects of their models and textures A typical day in the role: Many projects going on Character sculpting a character or creator – clothing End-to-end pipeline of character art Outsource content Style and re-produce our client's characters and animals Top 3 must-have hard skills: Portfolio Attached – wireframes, texture, game output – lots of people and creatures. Different art directions Games experience Engine experience Deliver their content working in a stylized manner and take directions well Minimum Qualifications: Strong communication and collaboration skills; the ability to give and receive feedback constructively A portfolio that showcases excellent character creation and design, as well as the ability to deliver content optimized for real-time systems (i.e., game engines) Practical experience setting character asset quality standards and delivering assets to game engines, with the ability to debug and resolve related issues Highly proficient in industry-standard software (Maya, Z-Brush, Substance, commercial game engines, etc.) Expertise in human anatomy and the ability to represent this in a stylized manner, adhering to established art guides Strong understanding of low-poly modelling techniques, particularly for mobile and VR platforms Preferred Qualifications: Experience in costume design and a keen understanding of current fashion trends Experience working with outsourcers or external contributors to ensure quality and consistency Ability to skin character models and adjust geometry/skin weights to ensure smooth deformation during animation
