Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management and accounting, with proficiency in various accounting software. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial health of our organisation and will involve collaborating with different departments to support strategic decision-making.
Duties
1. Manage all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts, overlooking 3 businesses: Leeds, Nottingham, and Bristol.
2. Oversee accounts payable processes to ensure timely payments and accurate record-keeping.
3. Implement and maintain effective financial management systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
4. Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses to guide business decisions.
5. Collaborate with external auditors during audits and ensure all necessary documentation is prepared.
6. Develop and maintain relationships with banks, investors, and other financial institutions.
7. Utilise accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
8. Provide leadership to the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Qualifications
1. Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role within a finance department.
2. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly in relation to accounts payable.
3. Proficiency in accounting software (Sage, QuickBooks, Xero) is essential.
4. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
6. Exceptional communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders.
7. A degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) are advantageous.
