Grantham Community Garden Worker (Summer) - $8.00/hour
This position includes responsibilities for running all aspects of the garden during the summer. Responsibilities include cultivating crops, harvesting, running a Community Supported Agriculture program, chicken care, beekeeping, marketing, selling produce, and maintaining records.

Work Schedule: Summer garden workers are required to work 40 hours per week, primarily during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work.
Experience Required: No experience is required.
Experience Preferred: Experience in gardening, landscaping, horticulture, farming, or business is preferred.
Skills and Characteristics Required:
1. Able to work 8 hours/day outside in all weather conditions.
2. Independent and self-motivated, able to prioritize and set goals.
3. Enjoy physical labor, including lifting and using garden tools.
4. Possess great customer service skills.
5. Work well as part of a team with patience and respect for others.
6. Understanding of caring for living things, with willingness to work after hours or weekends if necessary.
Dress Code Requirements: Sturdy shoes and appropriate gardening work clothes.
Special Working Conditions: Work outside, exposed to sun, rain, and insects. Must have a valid driver’s license and be approved to drive Messiah vehicles. Physical labor required, including bending, lifting, kneeling, and standing for prolonged periods.
Primary Duties:
1. Create a schedule for planting and harvesting crops.
2. Harvest crops daily.
3. Deliver produce to Dining Service and CSA members.
4. Run weekly farm stands on campus, including setup, sales recording, and customer service.
5. Maintain the garden through weeding, pest management, and other tasks.
6. Regularly water crops, especially during hot weekends.
7. Care for chickens, including feeding, watering, and coop maintenance.
8. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Secondary Duties:
1. Track income and expenses.
2. Keep the Sustainability Office tidy.
3. Organize fall farm stands.
4. Recruit volunteers for the following academic year.
5. Other duties as assigned.
