Role: FOSTERING ASSESSING SOCIAL WORKERS

Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a FOSTERING ASSESSING SOCIAL WORKERS on behalf of Luton Borough Council within their CHILDREN & LEARNING Team department.
Main purpose of position:
To undertake the full range of social work duties in relation to statutory Family Placement work in accordance with the National Minimum Standards for Fostering Services and Fostering Services Regulations, promoting the best interests of children and young people at all times.
As a FOSTERING ASSESSING SOCIAL WORKERS, you will be responsible to:
1. Recruitment and assessment of prospective carers (general foster carers and connected person's carers) in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
2. Assist with local recruitment activities, including participation in initiatives, as well as monitoring and evaluation of effectiveness of methods.
3. Undertake initial visits.
4. Undertake formal assessment using the BAAF Form F and adhere to the standards and requirements of the process.
5. Present Form F and support carer applicants at Panel.
6. Support and identify training and development needs of allocated foster carers, monitoring achievement and attendance at training sessions.
7. Complete Personal Development Plans.
8. Undertake training for personal development both internally and externally and deliver training for foster carers on a group basis when appropriate.
9. Take responsibility for own professional continuing development and participation in company training initiatives.
10. Share knowledge with colleagues.
11. Run support groups for foster carers, children, and young people.
12. Maintain appropriate records using Liquid Logic and work to departmental policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience
* Able to undertake statutory duties under the Children Act 1989, Fostering Minimum Standards and Care Planning and Fostering Regulations 2015.
* In-depth ability to make professional judgements in a multi-disciplinary setting, including negotiating resources.
* In-depth ability to work with complex and challenging cases with minimum supervision.
* Able to effectively communicate and work with service users, including children, foster carers, and a wide range of other professionals.
* Demonstrable ability to maintain high quality records, write clear, concise reports and correspondence dealing with complex issues.
* In-depth ability to work to strict deadlines and targets, working on own initiative, and also able to work as part of a team and share expertise.
* Demonstrable ability to influence service delivery by identification of gaps in service.
* Demonstrable ability to lead and chair multi-disciplinary meetings and represent the agency in a formal setting.
* In-depth knowledge and understanding of child development and issues of family dynamics.
* Demonstrable understanding of service eligibility criteria concerning need and risk of significant harm.
* Dip SW, CQSW, or recognized equivalent professional qualification.

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for Disclosure and Barring Service checks to be undertaken.
