There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Wessex Division is looking to recruit a Land Manager to join the Division’s Land department.
The Role
The Land Manager is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing sufficient land/sites for residential development to support the Division’s objectives of achieving and maintaining a quality land bank. The role reports to the Land Director.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local authorities, local agents, land owners, and other developers within the Division’s geographical area.
2. Work closely with the land team to conduct land appraisals in line with the Group’s land appraisal system.
3. Produce a clear assessment of the potential success of a development by collating build costs, market research, local planning policy, and technical information.
4. Negotiate and prepare offers to pursue land opportunities within budgets and forecasts.
5. Maintain knowledge of all technical and health and safety aspects covering land acquisition and development.
6. Ensure effective working relationships between Land and other internal departments.
7. Maintain and manage the land register/portfolio.
8. Liaise with Planning and external consultants for successful delivery of applications and decisions.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Experience
1. Experience as a Land Buyer, Land Manager, or in a property-related role.
2. Successful experience in land acquisition, ideally within the housebuilding industry.
Qualifications and Training
1. A-Levels or equivalent.
2. Planning or Surveying Degree Grade 2:2 or above or equivalent is desirable.
3. RICS or RTPI qualification is desirable.

3. Collaborative working with a diverse range of people.
4. Good administration skills.
5. Ability to work effectively to deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
