Job Title: Safety Camera Processing Clerk
Salary: The starting salary is £30,450, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.
The salary is broken down as £27,609 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £29,676 Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

The Safety Camera Processing department is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of cases detected by Traffic Safety Speed and Red Traffic Light Enforcement Cameras and input of related documentation. Being part of a team responsible for tracing drivers of vehicles photographed by Speed and Red Traffic Light Safety Camera Enforcement located throughout MPS. Ensuring appropriate enforcement is taken which may vary depending on the circumstances, from the issue of a National Safety Awareness course or Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty or prosecution at court. The latter two outcomes both result in the payment of a fine and driving licence endorsement.
What does the average day look like? Your core duties will include:
* Collect, sort, and scan all incoming correspondence and returned Mail for the section.
* Verify and process all Nominations and Admissions from Notices of Intended Prosecution received.
* Process and respond to any correspondence received relating to automated safety camera activations.
* Respond to telephone calls received from members of the public, HMCTS - Conditional Offer Unit, TTC - or any other Course Provider for National Safety Awareness Courses as well as internal calls from police officers within and outside MPS.
* Keep computer records updated of any transactions, correspondence or telephone calls received and record action taken or response details on DOME (computer system that is used by the team for processing cases) and PENTIP (web-based application that lets police record and process fixed penalty notices)
* Take any necessary or appropriate action relating to the administration of safety awareness courses to conclude the disposal outcome.
* Undertake any necessary enquiries to establish identity of driver, PNC (Police National Computer), DVLA (Driver Vehicle Licencing Agency), HA Search (Home Address)
* Ensure any persistent offenders identified are referred to Enquiry team or for prosecution.
* Process offences for prosecution of original offence by checking that all documents and correct action has been taken then submitting an MG11 statement where admission received.
* Process offences for prosecution of failing to comply with Section 172 by checking that all documents and correct action has been taken and ensuring any additional statements required in relation to PNC checks will be included for referral.
* Attend court and give evidence if or when necessary.
* Undertake any other administrative duties as directed.

Essential Criteria

Desirable Criteria
* An understanding of Safety Camera processes and the underpinning legislation, Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988, and the Road Traffic Act 1988
* Awareness of the Mayors Vision of zero people killed or seriously injured on London’s Roads by 2041
