LCP Delta are looking for someone with a comprehensive background in both short-term power markets and programming to join our short-term energy markets practice. What will you be doing?
* Developing and maintaining a large and complex codebase alongside a team of developers and energy market experts. Note that prior knowledge of C# is not essential
* Working with APIs to access external data sources, processing and cleaning datasets, and performing calculations to transform this data to provide meaningful information to clients
* Applying commercial knowledge when adding new data or features to ensure they are meeting the needs of users
* Working with other teams within LCP Delta, such as the Power Market Modelling team, to share knowledge and to support projects in other parts of the business
* Tracking closely the dynamics of the balancing, wholesale and frequency response markets to help keep an eye on what our clients will be paying attention to; shaping the direction of our future tools and services
* Communicating with clients or subscribers via emails and calls
Short-Term Power Markets Team
This role sits in Power Trading within LCP Delta’s broader Technology and Data team. The team have worked closely with Digital Services to develop cutting-edge software supporting a wide range of clients, as well as being used internally to support consulting and subscription research teams within LCP Delta.
Enact is LCP Delta’s market-leading data visualisation, analytics and forecasting platform focused on short-term power markets. The team now work with most major players in the GB power market, supporting traders, analysts and asset owners in tracking minute-by-minute changes in short-term power markets. Enact's data also feeds into monthly reports and ad-hoc analysis as part of LCP Delta’s Power Insights service, which spans across other teams involved in analysing GB power markets.
The Enact team has grown significantly in recent years in both headcount and revenue and are looking to build on this strong reputation within the GB market to win clients across Europe. This secondment initiative aims to support professional growth and contribute to the team's ongoing growth and success.
What skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?
* Relevant BSc, MSc, PhD qualifications could serve as an advantage, alongside experience in relevant aspects of the energy sector, working with (for example, but not limited to) energy companies, technology manufacturers, policy makers, ‘start-ups’ or industry associations
* Intermediate coding knowledge, in C#, Python or another similar language
* A robust background in working with data and calculations
* An appetite for problem-solving, turning real-world challenges into impactful tools
* Collaborative and team-oriented working skills
* A willingness to develop new industry contacts and clients and attend events where required
* Commercial acumen - the ability to think commercially about the needs of our clients
* Customer focus - an understanding of what GB power market players would be looking for
