Local Authority is searching for a Pollution Control Officer. This is a contract role based in Warwickshire, initially for a period of 3 months.

Contract Duration: 3 Months
Key Skills:
1. Local authority experience in environmental health or enforcement (Desired)
2. Environmental health/management degree or relevant qualification or experience in contaminated land or acoustics or air quality (e.g., BSc./MSc.)
3. Understanding of relevant legislation and the underlying concepts and principles of the specialist area.
Duties:
1. Implementation of the Council's Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy, together with a formulation of advice on the remediation of known areas of contaminated land in the Borough.
2. Identification, investigation, and monitoring of air, land, noise, and water pollution within the Borough. Taking acoustic measurements and recordings where appropriate and interpreting gathered data. Taking formal and informal action to secure environmental improvement in appropriate cases.
3. Processing of applications for permits under relevant legislation, including the inspection of premises, preparation of documentation, and the writing of permit conditions. Re-inspection of relevant premises to ensure compliance with conditions and making the necessary variations.
4. Identification of areas which would benefit from environmental improvement in terms of pollution reduction, preparation of such improvement strategies in conjunction with others, and their implementation.
5. Support the ongoing assessment of air quality in the Borough and the implementation of any new air quality strategies.
6. Undertaking the necessary work to ensure that all performance indicators and targets in the Divisional and Corporate Plans are complied with.
7. Carrying out a satisfactory programme of environmental monitoring, inspection, and re-inspection ensuring that consistent action is taken.
8. Enforcement of environmental health legislation specifically related to the specialist section.
