Automation Engineer - Naval Location: Rugby Type: Permanent Are you an experienced Automation Engineer looking to contribute to exciting naval projects? They specialise in motors, drives, and control technologies, delivering innovative power/propulsion and energy system solutions alongside digital & automation technologies to their UK and international customers for both surface and submarine systems. Key Responsibilities Capture requirements and design the automation system, ensuring it is maintainable, extensible, reliable, efficient, and consistent with company standards. Integrate software and hardware components into one application and verify/validate the system, including with the power system under test. Liaise with other teams and disciplines within the company, customers, and suppliers to facilitate the design and produce requirements and other system documents. Provide maintenance, fault finding, diagnosis, repair, and upgrades/development as required. Perform factory acceptance testing and commissioning work to the company's quality procedures. Participate in design reviews and assist in other areas of the business as required. Qualifications and Requirements Degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field. Existing or the ability to obtain higher levels of UK Security Clearance, including "SC Clearance" and "UK Eyes Only Clearance". Experience implementing automation systems. Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI creation, and SCADA configuration. Familiarity with various industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profinet, EtherCAT, OPC-UA). Understanding of industrial networks and their implementation. Solid programming and software development skills. First-hand hardware troubleshooting and software debugging experience.
