Welder/Fabricator Our clients are offering an exciting opportunity for a Production Welder/Fabricator to join a very well-established company based in Burscough (L40) to help meet increasing business levels and production demands. Job Title : Welder/Fabricator Department: Manufacturing/Production Location : Burscough (L40) Reports To : Workshop Foreman Job Purpose To perform welding and fabrication tasks using a variety of materials and techniques to manufacture, repair, and assemble components, equipment, or structures to meet engineering specifications and safety standards. Key Responsibilities 1) Welding and Fabrication: Perform MIG, and/or other welding techniques on metals such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminium. Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal structures and components based on blueprints, technical drawings, or verbal instructions. Operate welding and fabrication machinery, including plasma cutters, grinders, saws, and press brakes. 2) Blueprint and Specification Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders. Verify dimensions and alignment of finished components using measuring tools like callipers, micrometres, and tape measures. 3) Quality Control: Inspect welds and fabricated components to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. Make necessary adjustments or repairs to achieve precise specifications. 4) Maintenance and Safety: Perform routine maintenance and inspection of welding and fabrication equipment. Follow all safety procedures including wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to health and safety regulations. 5) Collaboration and Problem-Solving: Work collaboratively with team members, engineers, and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Suggest process improvements to enhance productivity and quality. Key Skills and Competencies Proficient in various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG). Skilled in using fabrication tools and machinery. Strong understanding of welding and fabrication standards, including AWS or other relevant certifications. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Good communication and teamwork skills. Qualifications and Experience Proven experience as a welder/fabricator or in a similar role. Certification in welding (e.g., AWS, ASME, or equivalent) is highly desirable. Experience with CNC machinery or other advanced fabrication tools is desirable. is a plus. Basic math and geometry skills for layout and measurements. Working Conditions Primarily workshop/industrial environment with exposure to noise, heat, cold and welding fumes. May require lifting heavy materials or working in awkward positions. Potential for overtime or shift work based on project demands. (Shift work?)
