The Role:
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Assistant Group Financial Controller to join our dynamic finance team at Barons Eden. This vital role will see you working closely with the Group Financial Controller and collaborating with internal departments to enhance cost-efficiency and overall financial performance. You’ll play a key role in preparing financial reports, supporting audits, and driving initiatives that support Barons Eden’s success and growth.

Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and manage accurate financial statements to summarise the company’s financial status.
* Handle quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with regulations.
* Develop and produce financial forecasts that assist in strategic decision-making.
* Oversee cash flow forecasting, ensuring liquidity goals are met.
* Assist with audit preparations and ensure smooth audit processes.
* Reconcile accounting discrepancies and resolve imbalances promptly.
* Delegate tasks to junior accounting staff, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
* Supervise Finance Assistants and step in to cover their roles when needed.
* Collaborate with senior management, preparing detailed financial reports to support business decisions.
* Complete the monthly management pack with precision and attention to detail.
* Conduct daily income audits, reconciling and verifying monetary transactions.
* Handle ad hoc financial tasks and special projects as assigned.
Person Specification:
Essentials:
* Proven experience in leading finance teams.
* Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Advanced proficiency in mathematics, accounting principles, and financial processes.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
* Highly detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills.
* Excellent time management skills, able to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
* Critical thinker with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
* Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with financial software (Sage Intact/ Sage 200).
Desirables:
* Previous experience in a similar financial role is highly desirable.
* Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification would be desirable, but not essential.
