Esea contemporary is the UK’s only non-profit art centre specialising in presenting and platforming artists and art practices that identify with and are informed by East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) cultural backgrounds. esea contemporary is situated in an award-winning building in the heart of Manchester, home to one of the largest East Asian populations in the UK. Since its inauguration as a community-oriented visual arts festival in 1986, esea contemporary has continuously evolved to establish itself as a dynamic and engaging space for cross-cultural exchanges in the British art scene, as well as in a global context.
The Fundraising and Development Manager will play a vital role in raising funds across the organisation, working closely with the Director to identify future funding opportunities in line with our strategic objectives. We are seeking an experienced and talented individual to build relationships with funders, donors, and patrons on behalf of esea contemporary and to secure funding from diverse sources—including creative fundraising campaigns, trusts, foundations, public sector grant-makers, and private or corporate sponsorship—that align with our vision and values.
Key Responsibilities are:
* Develop and implement a strategic fundraising programme with the Director and COO.
* Lead fundraising efforts, including trust, foundation, and corporate sponsorship applications. Research and cultivate relationships with funders in the UK and internationally.
* Prepare high-quality funding proposals aligned with esea contemporary’s vision.
* Ensure accurate costings and appropriate fund allocation with the COO and Finance Manager.
* Track pending applications and future funding opportunities.
* Provide funders with impact reports, ensuring compliance with requirements.
* Explore new income streams, including training services, consultancy fees, memberships, individual giving, corporate sponsorship, and donation campaigns.
* Support fundraising communications across digital channels.
