Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a CCTV Evidence Officer within the Kent Police and Essex Police Serious Crime Directorate’s Digital Forensics CCTV Unit at Headquarters, Chelmsford, Essex. The role involves supporting police investigators with the viewing, recovery, and subsequent processing of recorded video footage (from CCTV systems, Body Worn Video and mobile phones for example), paying particular attention to the rules of evidence, and ensuring that the final product is suitable for viewing by the CPS, defence teams and for presentation in court. Occasionally it may be necessary to present evidence in court.
Responsibilities
1. Support police investigators with the viewing, recovery, and processing of recorded video footage.
2. Ensure compliance with rules of evidence and suitability for court presentation.
3. Perform basic editing and decoding of video footage.
4. Identify and resolve faults in video systems.
5. Communicate effectively with investigators and other stakeholders.
6. Handle sensitive and potentially distressing case content.
Qualifications and Skills
You will need at least 2 years’ relevant experience within the field of CCTV to competently undertake the responsibilities of this post. It is desirable that the post holder is educated to ‘A’ level standard and has an understanding of ISO17025.
Essential skills include:
1. Experience in the use of computer applications supporting video processing.
2. Well-developed IT skills, including knowledge of video editing software and video transcoding methods.
3. Knowledge of legislation, policies, and procedures relevant to the production and handling of evidence.
4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.

Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, rising to a maximum of £37,932.00.
