Site Engineer - Leeds
Reporting to the Site Agent, the Site Engineer will be responsible for survey control and setting out detailed works as per contract drawings, ensuring high-quality and safe execution. The role requires a proactive approach to technical challenges, collaboration with stakeholders, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of survey control and setting out using contract drawings.
- Conduct site levelling and surveying to ensure accurate implementation.
- Manage and oversee construction activities, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Provide technical advice to subcontractors, operatives, and site teams.
- Ensure materials and human resources are efficiently allocated and utilised.
- Produce site diaries, allocation sheets, and work progress reports.
- Maintain drawing registers and accurate records for site documentation.
- Ensure all design documents are correctly managed and updated.
- Promote a safe working environment, ensuring all activities comply with health, safety, and legal regulations.
- Ensure the site complies with local authority regulations and industry standards.
- Carry out risk assessments and ensure method statements are followed.
- Maintain defect-free handovers and resolve any technical challenges proactively.
- Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager, and wider project team.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and local authorities to ensure smooth project execution.
- Ensure effective communication with the general public when required.
- Support collaborative working to ensure timely resolution of project challenges.
- Ensure compliance with project governance and client audit requirements.
- Work closely with the audit team to maintain high-quality project documentation.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation for quality and compliance reviews.
- Accurate and timely setting out of works.
- Completion of projects within required quality standards.
- Compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Efficient coordination of resources and materials.
- Positive engagement with clients and stakeholders.
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience in setting out on civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, health & safety, and legal regulations.
- Specific experience in drainage, earthworks, structures, and water projects.
- CSCS Card & Cable Avoidance Training.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, with strong communication skills.
- Temporary Works Coordination.
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- SSSTS/SMSTS, NEBOSH, or IOSH certification.
