CRG are currently working with a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor, who delivers high-quality solutions to major housebuilders and regional developers. Established in 2003, our client pride themselves on their commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability. As they continue to grow, they are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team and support their operations across the Yorkshire region.
Role Overview
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial and contractual aspects of our groundworks and civil engineering projects. Working closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders, you will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, review, and manage cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for groundworks and civil engineering projects.
* Conduct regular site visits to assess project progress, resolve issues, and manage variations.
* Negotiate contracts and ensure compliance with terms, conditions, and company policies.
* Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts, ensuring timely submission of valuations and payments.
* Manage subcontractor accounts, including procurement, valuations, and final accounts.
* Provide commercial advice and support to project teams, ensuring financial control and profitability.
* Produce accurate and detailed reports, including cost/value reconciliations and project forecasts.
* Liaise with clients and other stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships and ensure satisfaction.
* Support junior members of the commercial team, mentoring and sharing knowledge as required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in groundworks, civil engineering, or construction.
* Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Proficient in relevant software such as Microsoft Excel, cost management tools, and project management software.
* Full UK driving license and willingness to travel across the Yorkshire region.
