Position Description
Due to continued expansion and company growth, an excellent opportunity has arisen for the position of Laboratory Engineer within the Research & Development department, working with a small team of skilled Laboratory Engineers in the Airedale R&D Laboratory tasked with both research and development prototype testing and customer witness testing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Rigorously test new product lines (and components where necessary) to both industry and in-house standards to ensure they are robust and fit for purpose prior to market release in an effort to minimise potential field failures in line with the Research & Development roadmap.
2. Assist in the completion of customer witness tests.
3. Install products into the environmental chamber in preparation for testing.
4. Operate, maintain, and ensure housekeeping of applicable environmental chambers and accompanying plant.
5. Test products/components to industry and in-house standards.
6. Assist in the completion of customer witness tests in a professional and timely manner.
7. Be actively involved in/support product development projects.
8. Identify/rectify problems associated with products on test.
9. Analyze gathered results.
10. Produce high-quality technical reports.
Required Education & Qualifications
1. A minimum of a HNC in a relevant engineering discipline or science-based subject, or be working towards.
2. Previous experience of testing/working within a laboratory environment is desirable but not essential.
3. Ability to apply logical and rational thought to problems.
4. Ability to work under own initiative.
5. Capability of managing time effectively and working to deadlines.
6. Effective communication skills with both internal personnel and external customers.
7. Possess a sound theoretical and practical understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
