The Position:
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Physical Literacy & Education, the Supervisor, Sport & Recreation will be responsible for the planning and delivery of innovative, inclusive programs that will create opportunities and increase participation in sport and recreation, ensuring all members of the community
are able to develop their physical literacy both within Abilities Centre programs and with external partners.
The Supervisor will support in the delivery of Physical Literacy workshops and certifications while ensuring
all Abilities Centre programs embody the teachings delivered in education sessions. This individual will work directly with multiple Abilities Centre departments and staff to develop internal/external process related to scheduling programs, implementation, growing programs in alignment with IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility) strategies, and program evaluation and research. The Supervisor will also assist in building a pathway for participation that creates opportunities for individuals to unlock
their potential and participate in sport and recreation programming throughout their lifespan.
What You’ll Do:
· Internal Program Development and Delivery
o You will oversee and contribute to the development of Abilities Centre internal programs, including summer camp.
o You will assist in facilitating evening programs, field trips, and other programs as required.
o You will oversee the scheduling of Abilities Centre staff for internal programs and complete bi-weekly payroll and monthly schedules for staff.
o You will support program staff as needed and contribute to the development of staff culture with quarterly staff meetings and individual staff check-ins.
o You will collaborate with the Research Department in creating and implementing program evaluations to gather participant, parent, and teacher feedback, to determine areas of improvement and to ensure programs are meeting program objectives.
o You will collaborate with the Senior Coordinator to develop and implement annual registered program strategies to align with Physical Literacy operational plans, including:
§ Developing curriculum in alignment with Physical Literacy workshop and certification content
§ Registering participants
§ Booking of appropriate spaces as needed
§ Scheduling of staff as needed, and
§ Working with Abilities Centre’s Marketing and Communication Department to develop program
promotional materials, including updates and relevancy of website and social media content.
· Physical Literacy and Education
o You will support the Senior Coordinator in the delivery of Physical Literacy workshops and certifications.
o You will work with the Senior Coordinator on the development of virtual and video programming to support You. Me. We. Virtually Together Programming.
o You will support in the delivery of You. Me We. Programming with partnering Children’s Treatment Centres and Children’s Hospitals.
o You will oversee program registrations and lead communications between participants, families, coaches, and staff.
o Under the leadership of the Senior Coordinator, you will collaborate with the Sport & Recreation Department to develop and implement annual field trip strategies, including:
§ Scheduling and booking external groups for field trips
§ Booking of appropriate spaces for field trip delivery
§ Scheduling staff for field trip delivery, and
§ Working with Abilities Centre’s Marketing and Communication Department to develop marketing
materials to promote field trip opportunities.
o You will undergo regular professional development opportunities to increase and share knowledge of physical literacy.
o You will assist with other duties as reasonably assigned by the Senior Coordinator and/or the Senior Manager, Recreation.
What You Bring:
· Education and Knowledge.
o You have post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Physical Education, or Therapeutic Recreation, or related.
o You have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in program delivery and evaluation.
o You have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or
initiatives/programs that focus on inclusion.
o You have knowledge and understanding of the philosophy of Physical Literacy.
o You are proficient in Microsoft Office suite of services.

· Administrative Requirements.
o It is required that you have a current, clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector to work at Abilities Centre.
o It is required that you have a current, valid First Aid and CPR ‘C’ / AED.
o You are flexible regarding work schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends. You have access to reliable transportation.
