We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Estates and Inspections Team as a Neighbourhood Caretaker. Our caretaking team maintain the communal areas of our housing estates throughout East Suffolk, ensuring they are safe and clean. Your role: The post holder will be responsible for the general property maintenance and cleaning of communal housing areas. Your role will include - Sweeping, mopping, and cleaning Health and safety inspections Testing of fire safety equipment Reporting and arranging collection of fly-tipping Carrying out minor repairs Issuing notices to, and removal of, items in communal areas Delivering items of furniture/white goods to our temporary accommodation properties Responding to incidents; such as spillages, graffiti, and reports of hazardous items Reporting instances of anti-social behaviour Reporting safeguarding concerns What you will need: The successful candidate will have knowledge of building maintenance work and the ability to assess repairs. They will be able to complete straightforward repairs, and have the knowledge to refer repairs to our Building Services team when required. They will be proficient in general caretaking taking duties and be confident and proactive in helping our residents when needed. British Institute of cleaning science (BICS) qualifications would be an advantage, however this will be provided on successful recruitment to the role. Why work for us?
