External Business Development Executive

Salary: Up to £44,000
Benefits: Company car, laptop, phone, 20 days holiday (increasing to 25 after 4 years), plus bank/public holidays.
Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive External Business Development Executive with a strong engineering background and experience in business development within the fabrication and manufacturing sectors. The right candidate will come with established contacts and be ready to drive new business opportunities across the UK market.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research and identify potential new customers within the fabrication and manufacturing sectors.
2. Schedule and conduct appointments independently to introduce products and services.
3. Prepare and submit detailed reports following customer visits.
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with engineers, buyers, and decision-makers.
5. Communicate effectively with both small engineering firms and large corporate clients.
6. Manage your weekly diary to maximize the effectiveness of your appointments.
7. Collaborate closely with the Director to align business goals.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience in selling to engineering, manufacturing, or fabrication companies.
2. Knowledge of the steel industry and an understanding of technical drawings are advantageous.
3. Experience selling subcontract laser cutting and folding services is preferred.
4. Strong computer literacy.
5. Current clean driving license.
6. Ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences, from engineers to corporate buyers.
Working Hours:
Office hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Monday to Thursday), 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Friday). Flexibility is required to accommodate client appointments as needed.
