About the Service Cardiff benefits from being the capital of Wales and a city that is growing with a diverse population. Children in Cardiff need social workers who can respond to a variety of needs and experiences, providing an opportunity for social workers to develop expertise and lead practice in Wales. Cardiff offers the chance to grow and develop through high-quality training, effective regular supervision, and a wide range of opportunities for career development. For instance, this year, 10 internal workers have progressed to senior positions within our Social Work teams. We have redesigned our services to follow the child’s journey, creating area teams that enable workers to connect closely with local communities and services. There is a healthy culture of learning, support, and family across our incredible social work teams. This is an exciting opportunity to join a service that places the individual at the heart of our work. The teams work according to a strengths-based approach (Signs of Safety) to meet the needs of young people and their families. We have a varied caseload, with individual support, dedicated and regular supervision from senior managers alongside progression opportunities for successful candidates. Cardiff is one of the fastest-growing cities in the UK and is the first in the UK to be designated a UNICEF Child Friendly City, placing the rights of children and young people at the heart of our policies and strategies. Parents have the greatest influence on children and their future. In our view, children achieve the best outcomes when supported to grow and succeed within their own families. This belief led to the adoption of the 'Focus on the Family' approach, considering the whole family and coordinating support across public services, tailored to the needs and strengths of each family. If you are interested in being part of Cardiff's effort to be one of the most vibrant and successful cities in the UK, putting children first with the ambition to lead the way in developing practice in Wales, we would be delighted to hear from you.
