Role Responsibility About The Role The Local Authority has clearly defined roles and responsibilities in relation to children and young people aged 0-25 years with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The post holder will manage the efficient operation of a caseload, within a geographical area, to ensure the delivery of high quality, fully integrated services to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their families in line with the requirements of national legislation and guidance. What will you be doing? We are currently recruiting to our Area based School Age Teams our County-Wide Post-16 Team and our new County-Wide Phase Transfer Team and you will be actively involved in communication with, depending on your team, early years settings, and schools, or Post 16 colleges and training providers making, where appropriate, minor amendments to education and health and care (EHC) plans. You will have skills in identifying when an EHC plan may need more significant amendments that may require advice from your senior officer. You will have a set caseload for which you will be responsible for ensuring timely annual reviews are planned and completed, in accordance with statutory timelines. Frequent communication will be required with colleagues, education providers and wider professionals. This is a highly demanding role, but you will be working with an established, experienced, and supportive senior leadership team, you will have opportunities to extend your skills. Location We offer hybrid working; you will be based in your local office for 2-days per week (Brook House, Whitstable, Kroner House, Ashford, Worrall House, Kings Hill and Gravesham Civic Centre), flexibly working from home throughout the rest of the week. There will also be times when you may need to attend meetings in educational settings, other organisations, and Local Authority premises across Kent.
