About Us
G4S Oakhill Secure Training Centre (STC) cares for children aged 12 to 18 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. The children in our care can be vulnerable and challenging, with a wide range of complex social and emotional needs. We aim to support change and learning.

About the Role
We are expanding our Education team and are looking for a Qualified SENCO to lead the education department in supporting our young people with SEN needs. You will ensure they can access our education provision and support teaching staff to teach effectively.
As a Qualified SENCO, you will be responsible for delivering teaching that develops curious, inquisitive, and committed minds, helping the children to explore and meet their individual needs and interests.
Oakhill STC is a fast-paced, complex, and challenging environment. The successful candidate needs to be resilient, innovative, passionate, and work collaboratively with other professionals in a modern educational setting.
Some key responsibilities of this role are:
* Develop and monitor the STC’s policy for meeting the needs of trainees with SEND.
* Contribute to the QUIP for SEND and monitor its implementation and impact.
* Support teachers to develop schemes of work and learning programmes for pupils with SEN.
* Report progress and updates to any level as required.
* Coordinate day-to-day SEND within the STC.
* Work in partnership with other departments and staff to ensure the best possible learning opportunities for trainees.
* Carry out assessments of pupils with SEN to identify needs and monitor progress.
* Work with teachers, the management team, and relevant external agencies to develop, implement, and monitor individual learning plans.
* Liaise with professionals outside of the department.

To succeed in this role, you will need to be a dynamic and engaging individual, with a passion for helping and mentoring. The role requires promoting a child-centred approach prioritizing safeguarding and providing a stable environment.
The successful candidate must have an appropriate SEN qualification and previous experience working with SEN children in an education setting.
