Sandwell Aquatics Club based in Sandwell, West Midlands, is recruiting for a highly motivated and driven Assistant Head Swimming Coach to work primarily with our Competitive Development Squad.
The ideal candidate will hold a Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 Swimming Coach Award or a Swim England Senior Swimming Coach Certificate/Level 3 Coaching Award. For an exceptional candidate with a passion for competitive swimming, Sandwell Aquatics Club would be willing to invest in the necessary qualifications training and support required to fulfil your role.
This role is a part-time one, contracted for 20 hours per week. This includes 15 hours of contact time and 5 hours of administrative duties - this may vary from week to week and with opportunities to assist and cover all squads. We offer a competitive salary/rate and this is dependent on your qualifications and experience.
About us: Sandwell Aquatics Club is a club with a rich history and high expectations having amalgamated three clubs in Sandwell into one. We have a rapidly growing membership and our pathways have developed swimmers from our Skill Development program through to National Qualifiers and we are now in a position to expand our existing coaching team. We develop and support all athletes to improve their performances through structured coaching and planned coaching sessions in a competitive, friendly, and supportive environment.
About you: You will have experience and a track record of working with and coaching age group swimmers to various levels from County level and above. You will have a good understanding of the behaviours (OADF) required within the age group programmes that will contribute to the swimmer reaching their full potential.
You will be highly motivated and enjoy working as part of a team; be able to plan your own appropriate sessions, be capable of adapting as required, show a strong sense of initiative and be keen to promote an excellent working and training environment, maintain and stay on top of administrative duties as required as part of your role.
You will be able to maintain a high degree of professionalism in dealing with multiple swimmers and inspire them to get the most out of each session. You will be diplomatic, understand and promote the importance of the relationship with swimmers, parents, and colleagues to truly get the best out of the athletes.

You should be knowledgeable in competitive swimming and be driven to achieve results for swimmers of all abilities with a particular focus on increasing the multi-stroke skills and techniques of the club’s age group swimmers.
You will also be open to developing yourself. The club will provide opportunities to attend courses, programs and support applications that show a desire for self-development that ultimately will put you in the best position possible to not only develop our athletes but also yourself, and the club, to continue its recent progress at all levels.
