Route Services is a division of Network Rail that provides the Routes with services so they can help Network Rail deliver a better railway for a better Britain. This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.

About the role (External)
As a Line Person you will undertake installation and modification of OHL Equipment and associated structures in order to meet the Programme of works, Projects and Incident Support requirements.
You will need to hold a full driving licence as access to work sites at unsociable hours. You will also need to have a proven Overhead Line Construction experience and be qualified to IM3 or equivalent. Or hold OLEC 3 (elements 1,5,6 are desirable with OLEC 2 elements are essential) or equivalent.
You will also hold a Personal Track Safety competence and holding a COSS would be desirable.
This role will require nationwide travel and a need to stay away in accommodation as roster shifts are worked often working nights and weekends. Typical roster pattern is three weeks of night/one week of days and usually 8 out of 13 weekends worked.
As part of the selection process a written task based on OLE will need to be completed.
Key Accountabilities:
1.Undertake tasks only in accordance with your competencies (Unless under direct supervision during training) Always work in a safe manner and report any risk to your line manager.
2.Ensure the tasks are completed to an accepted standard of workmanship and quality in accordance with the relevant Network Rail company standards and procedures, working instructions, task briefing sheets and work risk control sheets.
3.Always adhere to company HSEQ procedures.
4.Complete all site documentation in full detail as required by company procedure ensuring these are returned at the end of the shift to the site management team.
5.Attend training courses to enhance personal skill levels and competencies; ensuring re-certification is undertaken in a timely manner (AiTL).
6.Carry out site based duties diligently when allocated and competent ensuring log books are kept up to date.
7.Operate or act as machine controller on the High Output Wiring Train(s) and Road Rail Vehicles when instructed to do so and ensure competencies are suitable for these types of plant.
8.Only use tools and equipment provided by the company relevant to the task that you are working on.
9.Ensure that all necessary paper work is completed fully before commencement of work, briefings are carried out in detail and fully understood and records are fully maintained.
10.Attend monthly safety and team briefs that will be delivered by this post holder’s line manager.
11.Participate fully in the development of, and the engagement of the team.
12.Ensure that any type of accident or incident is reported at the earliest possible opportunity to the site management team or your line manager.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications:
Essential
·Demonstratable experience of an operational railway environment
·Knowledge of Network Rail standards and procedures.
·Relevant competencies.
·Excellent understanding of Work Safe Procedure.
·Good interpersonal, communication and organisation skills.
·Good working knowledge of small tools, plant and equipment, including Road Rail Vehicles and High Output Wiring Train.
·Good understanding of OHL system and basic design.
·Must have completed a Network Rail recognised Line person/Erectors course or equivalent.

·Possess HGV Class 2 Licence.
