Qualifications: Good numeracy / literacy skills(at a level equivalent to level 2 NVQ or equivalent)

* Working with or caring for young people between the ages of 11-19 with SEND needs

Main Duties
* To support and uphold the school’s vision and values
* To work with small groups of children or to work with children individually in a 1:1 setting under the guidance of a teacher and the supervision of a deputy headteacher.
* Give regular feedback on children’s progress to the class teacher and file records.eg tutorial documentation
* Meet children’s pastoral needs.
* Accompany teachers and pupils on educational visits.
* Display work under the direction of the teacher.
* Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times, including following all risk assessments.
* Be aware of child protection procedures and report to the relevant member of staff any concerns.
* Maintain good relationships with colleagues and work together as a team.
* Assist in the supervision of classroom and outdoor activities.
* To help children of all abilities, including those with special educational needs to learn as effectively and independently as possible, both individually and in small groups
* To support a range of interventions to support individuals and small groups
* To work with children on individual targets in reading, writing and maths
* To support children’s emotional development and resilience when approaching learning tasks
* To support children’s behaviour in line with the school’s vision, values and positive behaviour policy
* To assist with children at the beginning and end of the day and at break times as required
* To have an awareness of and adherence to all school safeguarding procedures and participate in training as appropriate
* To ensure the health and safety of the children and to report any concerns or details of accidents/incidents as necessary to the Headteacher
* To assist in the general care of the learning environment by keeping curriculum resources in classrooms and around the school, tidy and in good order.
* To implement and promote the schools equal opportunities policies at all times and to value diversity.
