The successful candidate will:
Support the advance planning of Ministerial visits and events by tracking visit bids and liaising with stakeholders, scoping out visit opportunities, conducting visit site recces, and compiling itineraries and briefings for Ministers.
Support the operational on-the-day delivery of Ministerial visits, liaising confidently on behalf of the Department with external partners onsite, being the Minister’s point of contact for any questions or issues, and providing proactive direction and guidance on visit best practice.
Work closely with the communications team (press officers; digital content capture) to ensure collaboration on visits and events and that we are maximising promotion of our priorities via a wide range of channels.
Undertake other duties on occasion in line with their role and responsibilities, experience and grade.
Person specification
The ideal candidate would have the following key skills and experiences:
Essential requirements:
An understanding of and interest in the political landscape and news agenda, with an understanding of communication opportunities and pitfalls.
The ability to work quickly and calmly across what can be a pressured and unpredictable workload, juggling conflicting demands and tight deadlines.
The confidence and credibility to build relationships with Government Ministers, Special Advisers and Policy Officials, and to work collaboratively and flexibly with Ministerial Private Offices, Communications Officials and external stakeholders.
Excellent organisational skills, with a forensic eye for detail and accuracy.
Desirable skills:
Experience of organising high-profile events or Ministerial visits.
Prior experience of working with Ministers or people in the public eye.
An understanding of and interest in the political landscape and news agenda.
An interest in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s policy areas.
