Are you an experienced academic leader with a passion for education? The King’s School, Canterbury is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Academic Director to oversee the delivery of our prestigious Summer School Programmes in 2025.
This summer, we are proud to host two outstanding residential programmes:
* A residential exchange programme: A bespoke experience for students aged 9–13 from our partner school in The King's School, Shenzhen, China.
* The Global Summer School: An exciting opportunity for international students aged 8–17 to enhance their English skills while exploring specialist academies in Sports, Music & Performance, Pre-University Preparations, and International Relations.
The Role
As Academic Director, you will be at the heart of our summer programmes, ensuring academic excellence while fostering an inspiring and supportive learning environment. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Academic Leadership – Overseeing curriculum design, lesson delivery, and student progress to maintain high educational standards.
* Team Leadership – Leading a team of talented teachers, conducting observations, and providing mentorship to ensure engaging and dynamic lessons.
* Teaching & Enrichment – Delivering high-quality sessions and coordinating immersive learning experiences beyond the classroom.
* Operational Oversight –overseeing administrative task including staff schedules, student registration and attendance tracking.
* Student Welfare – Acting as a key pastoral figure, prioritising the well-being and safeguarding of all students.
What We’re Looking For
* A Bachelor’s degree in any field with a Masters in a relevant discipline or QTS in Secondary English / Modern and Foreign Languages.
* Proven experience in academic management and working with multilingual student groups.
* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire both staff and students.
* A passion for innovative education, creating a stimulating and inclusive learning atmosphere.
