Job Description
Band 2 - £11,964
Part-time 19 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cardiology Department for an Outpatients Coordinator. This position is for part time 19 hours and must include working on a Monday and Friday until 5pm.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent communication and administration skills to join our team. Experience of working in an Office/NHS setting would be beneficial.
Main duties of the job
1. To manage all clinic and diagnostic appointments.
2. Provide a high-quality service when booking patient appointments, prepping clinics, undertaking patient-facing reception duties, and dealing with telephone queries.
3. To ensure that urgent and routine patients are treated within the agreed target waiting times.
4. Liaise with clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure excellent standard of care.
Qualifications
Essential
1. At least 5 GCSEs at grade A-C. ECDL certificate or equivalent experience of keyboard/computer use.
Desirable
1. NVQ level 3 or equivalent in administration (or working towards).
Experience
Essential
1. Demonstrable varied administration experience (i.e. working in an office environment, customer care).
Desirable
1. Experience of working in a healthcare environment using healthcare systems such as PAS.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to deal/liaise with staff at all levels. Able to prioritise and plan workload. Confidentiality and discretion. Proven skills in use of word processing packages (Microsoft Office). The ability to work using own initiative and without supervision.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of NHS outpatient targets and systems (training will be provided). Understanding of Medical terminology.
