As Senior Officer Research and Enterprise Systems, you will be responsible for ensuring the university’s R&E systems meet the requirements of both the university and R&E funders and regulators, maintaining the systems, scheduling upgrades and patches with minimal disruption, as well as training and supporting users.
You will ensure all R&E systems contracts are managed effectively and procurement processes are managed in a timely fashion, ensuring no gaps in provision and act as the primary contact with system suppliers, maintaining positive and productive relationships for university benefit.
You will develop and maintain an excellent working and technical knowledge of all R&E systems, as well as monitoring the external market to appreciate new systems and developments, writing business cases for new systems or developments as required, and project managing the implementation of any new R&E systems.
We are looking for someone with a high level of emotional intelligence who has the ability to develop strong working relationships with staff at all levels across the University to ensure quality service delivery, demonstrating political awareness, diplomacy, and tact. You will need demonstrable experience working in a range of IT development/support roles; experience delivering complex organisational process change projects – particularly those with a technology element; the ability to explain and deliver training on complex ICT issues in an understandable manner; and experience of writing policy, procedures, or guidance in relation to ICT systems. You will need to have experience of effectively managing ICT systems suppliers and of producing information reports based on data for a range of internal and external audiences.
