Applications are invited for a Trainer post within Police and Crime Training to deliver the new Recruit Training Programmes. The primary role of the Trainer will be to train newly-appointed Police Officers, Special Constables, Investigating Officer and Police Community Support Officers (PCSO’S) to be effective and efficient members of the Neighbourhood Policing Team, and Specialist Neighbourhood Teams thereby enhancing public confidence and reassurance.
Applicants should be willing to learn on the job and develop a tool kits to help them deliver this knowledge to other people.
Key Responsibilities
1. To ensure a safe working environment for students and staff and that training activities have been risk assessed and are regularly reviewed.
2. To support and manage learning and assessment activities to ensure progress of learners through each programme and liaise with key stake holders to support learners in achieving their goals within their probation.
3. To prepare and deliver initial training and complete the associated administration around learning that this entails.
4. To hold tutorials with students to discuss their individual progress and where necessary, to guide them so as to enhance their rate of development to promote a learning organisation.
5. Supervise and develop students in a face to face classroom, alongside virtual delivery and in the operational environment.
6. Assist other members of the Learning and Development team as required.
Skills & Experience
We are seeking enthusiastic good communicators who are looking to develop their skills to deliver training to new colleagues joining Policing. Your ability to adapt your communication style to what the learners need is critical.
Ideally the candidate will have experience in Policing and having completed one of the following roles or something similar ( PC, DC, IO, PCSO, Detention Officer ) in the past.
The ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the concept of diversity, with the ability to embed this knowledge throughout all learning and development programmes.
The ideal candidate must be highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative under minimal supervision, being flexible with other partners who are linked to the learners progress. Eg Universities, External Assessors the wider business.
It is hoped that the successful applicant is fully conversant with Microsoft Office products, Powerpoint, Excel and Sharepoint with accurate keyboard skills be able to adapt learning materials for your own individual classes.
A recognised training qualification in Learning and Development is desirable, but equally not essential as we will be able to support you with developing the skills you need.
