This is an excellent opportunity for a committed Family Support Worker to join Regional Adoption Agency, Adoption East Midlands (AEM), and to make a positive contribution to supporting adopted children, young people, their families and birth family members.
You will be a member of the adoption support team, working alongside social workers in supporting ‘keeping in touch’ arrangement’s thinking creatively of how meaningfulrelationships could be promoted, developed and maintained.
Your role will also include supporting birth family members with their keeping in touch arrangements, in order for them to feel empowered to maintain a relationship with their child.
You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Relevant experience of working with children and families is also an essential requirement of the role. Recording, report-writing and IT skills are also essential, along with an ability to work on your own initiative and as an effective member of a team. You will have an interest in adoption, and the needs of adopted children and their families, as well as an understanding of the challenges faced by families, and have enthusiasm for wanting to support change. You will receive regular supervision and be part of a supportive team environment and be supported to continue to develop your own skills and knowledge.
