We are now looking for a Lecturer in Commercial Dance to join our Cardiff campus on a part-time, 1 year fixed-term basis, working 14.8 hours per week. THE ROLE The post holder will lecture in dance at The Wales Academy of Voice & Dramatic Arts (WAVDA) covering several modules and subject areas. The post holder will deliver teaching in a variety of different learning environments and use a variety of teaching styles and approaches, including all levels of undergraduate study and, where appropriate, postgraduate study. The post holder will offer both academic and pastoral feedback and support to students to the highest professional standards and with regard to the ongoing enhancement of the student experience. The post holder will undertake scholarship, research, training or project work, either individually or within a team, to ensure ongoing professional development and to enhance the profile of the Academic Discipline, Institute and University. The post holder will make a positive contribution to the day-to-day activities of the Academic Discipline that may cover areas such as dissertation supervision, student recruitment, marketing activities, research seminars and workshops, staff training and professional development. ABOUT YOU To be considered for this role, you will need: An honours degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience. Professional experience in Dance as a performer and educator covering two or more of the following areas; Ballet, Jazz, Tap and/or Choreography Experience in teaching, delivery, assessment and student support at undergraduate and postgraduate level in relevant subject area Evidence of good organisational and personal management skills Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively IT proficiency and experience of using e-resources including a willingness to teach by video-link, VLE, e-mail or website delivery Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of new and emerging technologies and solutions available to prepare for the future demands of a sustainable performing industries sector.
