Specialist Clinical Pharmacist - Critical Care (ICU)
An excellent opportunity has risen for a Band 7 pharmacist to join our vibrant Surgery and Critical Care pharmacy team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work closely within the multidisciplinary teams to deliver a high level of pharmaceutical care, advice and medicines management service. You will have the opportunity to deputise for the lead pharmacists, be involved in directorate work including guideline development and lead on projects. You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical and management skills within the role and will be supported to continue to develop professionally through a diploma, prescribing course or other opportunities identified.
Main duties of the job
* Provision of clinical pharmacy services to the wards and departments within the Care Group of Surgery and Critical Care to a consistently high standard in line with the Trust strategic objectives and the NHS Long Term Plan.
* Day to day supervision and support of pharmacy staff working in those areas.
* Demonstrate a high level of specialist knowledge and practice in this field.
* Support the Lead Advanced Pharmacist to cover the day to day work of the service.
* Contribute to the development of pharmaceutical services to the Trust and to promote the highest standards of professional practice in accordance with relevant legislation, the Code of Ethics of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), United Kingdom Medicines Information (UKMI) standards and Trust policies and procedures.
Person Specification
Education, Qualification & Training
* Registered Pharmacist: Member of General Pharmaceutical Council
* Completed or undertaking a post-graduate diploma in pharmacy practice or recognised equivalent
* Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society
* Member of the UKCPA
Experience
* Strong experience of hospital pharmacy at Post Registration Pharmacist level
* Delivery of pharmacy services to a range of specialities including surgery
* Experience of training of other pharmacy staff
* Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development
* Experience undertaking audit

* Able to identify and prioritise tasks and organise and plan to meet deadlines
* Work, communicate and provide effective leadership within a team
* Clear and concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi-disciplinary team, patients and carers
* Able to recognise and embrace new ideas and developments in clinical practice and implement under supervision of superiors
* To have a positive attitude, be able to recognise and communicate need for change and be able to participate in change management processes
* Prepared to attend necessary training sessions for personal and service development and able to identify own training need
* Able to recognise limits of own competence and refer and seek advice from colleagues appropriately

* Able to travel to other sites within the Trust and to venues for training
