Farecla Products Limited – Ware, Hertfordshire
Regulatory affairs, safety data sheets, compliance, labelling; you know these like the back of your hand! You have years of experience in these areas and the ability to work autonomously, using your initiative, and enjoying a certain level of responsibility. How about working in the on-site R&D lab, hands-on with the products?
At Farécla Products (part of the Saint-Gobain group), we are looking for an R&D Regulatory Specialist. In this role, not only will you be adding huge value with your strong regulatory and compliance skills, but you’ll also spend time in a laboratory where the products are formulated! You’ll be joining a small but efficient technical team in a working environment that places a high value on trust, empowerment, and collaboration. Farécla is a manufacturer of polishing compounds and surface finishing products, serving customers globally, providing solutions to automotive bodyshops, detailers, composite manufacturers, and other industrial applications.
This role is based out of our site in Ware, Hertfordshire. There is an option for part of this role to be worked on a hybrid basis, but this will be limited due to the on-site presence needed in the lab.
What we’re looking for:
1. Extensive knowledge and experience as a regulatory specialist focusing on regulatory SDS and labelling compliance.
2. Experience in a laboratory; exposure to following procedures and understanding the rules and regulations in this type of environment (a couple of years’ experience is fine).
3. Knowledge and experience in the use of software for calculation of SDS/labelling requirements. Exess software is hugely advantageous/preferred.
4. Knowledge of regulatory bodies for research and communication purposes.
5. Knowledge of Health & Safety standards and procedures along with experience maintaining a safe working environment.
Ability to effectively communicate with all internal staff members relating to projects undertaken including presenting new ideas or legislative trends to team members or sponsors within Farécla/Saint-Gobain.
What you will be doing:
This is a split function role with compliance-related duties and an R&D support role (the compliance side is where the majority of the split lies, however priorities will determine the time split on occasion).
Compliance:
1. Ensure safety Data sheets (SDS) are compliant using Exess Software.
2. Ensure all labelling compliance is up to date for all manufactured products for Farécla.
3. Primary compliance for labelling and SDS’s for Farécla Products.
4. Research and indicate raw materials of concern and report to the Technical Director.
5. Assist in researching methods and technologies for product declarations such as biodegradability, product volatility, and sustainability for Farécla only.
6. Advise on labelling limits that can be used for hazardous materials.
7. Maintain the SDS database on an ongoing basis, and contact suppliers and other bodies for up-to-date SDS sheets.
R&D:
1. Formulate and/or substitute new ingredients into existing or new products as directed by the technical director.
2. Oversee and conduct analysis of abrasives used.
3. Engage with suppliers on new chemical and applicator materials.
4. Maintain the laboratory inventory and the day-to-day operation of the laboratory equipment and contracts.
